en trenched

Further to the other day's post ('in the trenches: the warhol effect'), I'm finding myself - and, apparently others on the street - looking at the classic trench coat in a new way. Weather is immaterial. This is the opposite of the 'underwear as outerwear' thing, this is outerwear - RAIN GEAR, in fact - as indoor wear. As, essentially, this year's Little Black Dress.

And, like any good Little Black Dress, it can work as a base for countless different looks. You can dress it up, you can dress it down. And, unlike the LBD, fashion forward boys can wear it, too.

I love how this guy's got a slight James McAvoy look going, and has accessorised his trench with white tee, gold necklace AND the ultimate status item: a LFW red ribbon pass. And he manages to pull it off with total masculine attitude.

Or, in this case, it's great worn simply, with little red flat pumps and bare legs.. just perfect. And not a drop of rain in sight.

Was walking down the road near home when someone called my name. It was Nicky, of lips of london!! My lovely blog friend, out with her mates! It was all screams & 'You're polka dot? OMG!' And 'You're little miss london???'

We'd been talking about meeting (with her mom, because after all she's only 13) because we kept reading in each others' blogs that we'd been to all the same places, and had just missed each other. We had even both been in the NY area at the same time this summer. And here it was, a pure coincidence: I was buying stamps to send my sister a birthday card.

And who should she be with, but ALICE, aka Little Miss London, my other blog friend! Between the two of them, they've got my favourite A/W 2009 items: Nicky's boots (I have a similar very old pair that I need to re-sole as they're literally disintegrating), Alice's raincoat is almost identical to on of my favourite ones, and I LOVE her leopard ballet pumps!

Both girls are just brilliant, and wise beyond their years. We did a quick impromptu photo shoot & just as I snapped the last shot, this girl walked by: the next generation of fashion forward bloggers. I love her attitude, that little girl. And love everyone's style. And their wisdom, far beyond their years.

let's dance

Georgie and Estelle, from our First Fashion Shoot, Regent's Park.

When I found this video, I swear, I assumed @ first it was something someone made at home to go with Bowie's song. It constantly amazes me how ahead of his time he was, and still is: this video is just so raw. Embedding is disabled by request, but it's really worth it to click here, trust me. I just love that line: 'under the moonlight, the SERIOUS MOONLIGHT.'

Okay, enough dancing. As Scarlett O'Hara would say, tomorrow is another day. And I'm famished.
