faith in ashish

I think it was Roz and her mum, Polly, that I was talking with at Somerset House (more about that coming up) about the idea of paying homage to a designer by, wherever possible, wearing their clothes to a catwalk show. Or if that's not possible, just kind of, you know, wearing something LIKE their clothes. (KTZ is a great example of that: the audience is just SO OUT THERE).

For Ashish, each of the three times I've seen his shows, there's been this cute as a button red haired girl that always wears his clothes. I thought I didn't see her the second time but she was there, in the front row, sure 'nuff. (See her on the left?) The papps always go crazy for her and I assumed it was just cause she was wearing Ashish, but so is the dark haired girl. Turns out, she's Paloma Faith.

Shots, by me, going back in time from last week's show to A/W 2010. She seems to wear the previous season's show to each new one. What a lovely way to support Ashish.

I do like the idea of paying homage to a designer by making an effort to either wear or emulate their clothes and designs. A really lovely example of this was a post Roz herself did called "Homage to Jaeger" about her collection of Jaeger pieces. Also, I saw your reply yesterday re the tartan skirt which was actually a blanket and it is such a great idea - It doesn't cost anything and looks really unique! Thanks for letting me know! Oh, I added you to my blogroll yesterday cause I've been really enjoying your posts - looking forward to reading your forthcoming ones.

But the dark-haired girl is Marina Diamandis, aka Marina & the Diamonds! I'd expect her to be getting lots of attentions from the papps too.

I've never heard or seen Paloma Faith before, but I really like that song and video :)

Ah that's right she did! (to Alexandra re: Roz/homage Jaeger). That's the next series of posts I'm working on - there are so many images, so many images for all of these - I'm not even posting the 'best' images, I just randomly click on anything - but I think I've done 'homages' before but this is all connected with Roz and her mum.

Adrielleroyale: i didn't really know who she was either. I mean, I knew OF her, and I'd heard the songs, but I didn't put it together with the girl at Ashish. And Anonymous, I keep getting sent all this PR stuff about Papp photos of the same show I've been to (thank you very much for the slow download, Miss PR, but I already have my own) and they said her name, too. She was probably at the recent show, too. I'll have to check it out but I think since I was on the same side of the catwalk as Paloma this time I won't have the shots during the show.

It's fun to see how she styles it because she styles it very differently than Ashish does. She makes it almost 1940s, while he grunges stuff down.

Thanks all! xo

Wow, I've never heard of Paloma either. Thanks for introducing her to me. Love it!! This is far-fetched but, her face (maybe lips) has a slight Debbie Harry resemblance...?

The dark haired girl you mean is the one with the black lipstick? She's Marina Diamandis, of Marina and the Diamonds, just wait for next fashion week, she'll be big.
