I keep thinking I want to wear the 50s silhouette, the skater skirt style, and it's so not me... but I keep on trying. Putting together a post shots I took at David Koma's S/S 2011 show which really inspired me. There was a great article recently in the Time Style section (which I can't link, alas) about what happens when you to try to go outside your style zone. It's so true. A cautionary tale. Platform clog sandals and raincoat by Next.
Thank you to Emma at Next for giving us free range, and Jenny Jen and Shini for the snaps.. more to come!
And yesterday's winner is: Shopgirl, of Sugar and Spice. It was indeed Topshop. Who'd have thunk!

Oh my goodness your jacket/dress is just amazing!!!! OK I love your wooden heels too!!!
Bae we have so many favourite similar style blogs :P
Even though I know it's not your style... I did sort of like this combination on you! If you had big curly blonde hair - I could mistake you for Carrie! Haha. Lovely lovely shots and what a lovely day. xx
That rain coat is AMAZING!!!! I want it :)
As Jen said above - v Carrie!!
Thank you for the comment on my blog (I replied - not sure if you'd check!). Hope you have a fab hol!! xx
oh wow, that's an amazing outfit! love the knee-high socks with the shoes! and the coat has a very pretty print. the dotted gloves... ah, so cute.
Fantastic coat!
I'm so excited at what Next is doing this season. I was dressed mostly out of their catalogue as a child, so I never thought of it now I'm older, but they've given me quite the pleasant surprise
Thank you, each of you and Caramel, that's why we're so excited about working with them: I'm not kidding, the actual clothes are really amazing. There is so much I want now. That's why this thing we did on Saturday - which is coming out soon - was such fun. We each interchangeably played model/stylist/photographer. They're so open to creative ideas: they really listen to what we women want, and are designing and creating based on that. It's really exciting to see a brand grow like that, and feel part of the process.
Jill, I adore this look on you! That raincoat is so kitsch and divine, and the clogs and socks are great with it. Completely agree with Jen, it's very Carrie. I can't believe everything is Next - they really are at the top of their game at the moment xx
I've been having the same feeling about a 50's skirt that's been hiding in my closet. I may just take the plunge some day soon.

OMG Jill your legs are AMAZING!!!!! You have teenage legs.
Love how you style the printed trench coat teamed with over the knee socks....brings out the freshness and sexy side of you. Kerching.
Oh you're all so sweet - Kit it wasn't a style decision, it was actually necessity: I was wearing these really soft knee socks and it was friggin' freezing: if I'd have been able to pull them up to my neck, that would have been the look I was going for.
Adore your own take on the style you admire ; THIS, Jill, is you! Looks like Next have got some slamming collections on the way!
This coat is FABULOUS!!! Love it!! :)
this is cute
What a gorgeous rain coat, such a nice change from the traditional trench which I am obsessed with x
It might not be your usual style, but I actually love this 50's printed skater skirt on you, especially teamed with the knee socks and clogs. And my god Jill, you really do have the best legs going!!
Briony xx
