kit kat @ kinder

Before the wondrous Kinder Aggugini show, I got my friend Kit Lee aka the Style Slicker, stylist, blogger extraordinaire, and 'companion' to Matthew Zorpas'*, to pose for me. (*Note to self: I really must ask her what that even means). I got some amazing photos of the show (Did anyone reading this, see it? What did you think?) - I'm not just saying that to spin you along - but I just popped in and must run out again and it takes time to go thru all the shots. I choose not to stay in the 'pit' and get the boring end-of-runway shots, so mine are shot from the middle aisle or if I'm lucky, front row, and it's very hit or miss: it's like big game hunting, those models do move like gazelles on the Serengeti Plain. Which is fitting, given his African theme this season.

Oh btw I just was with my friend Natayla who is now part of the Olivia Palermo story and we agreed, I really must tell you the story because it's like when someone says 'oh you must see this film' (because they weren't expecting anything and they were pleasantly surprised) and then, by the time you eventually see it, you go to your friend 'I didn't think it was all that great'.

It's the law of inverse proportions: the longer I drag this out, the more banal the story will seem. I know!! I can make shit up! You'll never know the difference.

i know just how she feels

Backstage at Kinder Aggugini's AMAZING show.. was that only last night? Feels like years ago. I can't wait to show you the photos, from where I sat it's quite different than the end of the catwalk shots. I am seeing such incredible shows.

I'm so excited to show you all these images I've been gathering - like beautiful memories. It's like this gift I know I have for you but I can't give it to you yet because I'm SO FREAKING TIRED. We all are. I mean, there are some people who are just hanging out, watching, enjoying this amazing week in the miraculous warm sunshine, but among my blog-friends.. we were in the press room today @ tea time and they brought out free scones, gorgeous cheese, fruit, quince jelly, and Jennifer East and I were scoffing it down and Shini and Kit were just so tired they weren't hungry. It's like jet lag: things like hunger hit at the strangest hour. I had 'dinner at midnight: cookies and corn chips and apples and cheese and chocolate. While uploading photos.

But all that's NOTHING compared to how these girls must feel.

i am a kinder girl

As per yesterday ('red head'), more from Kinder Aggugini's show. You know how with a film, you never know it will really stay with you until after some time goes by? Well that's what's happened for me with Kinder. He is growing on me more and more. I mean, I LOVED his show at the time, but now, looking thru my photos.. so many powerful, diverse looks, but all the same voice.

These are so seemingly simple: black, or white. He's making such luxury out of what seems to be mohair, but it gives a texture like fur.. over pleats, but they're soft. And I love how he's paired them with bare legs and these lovely beige suede boots. And the HAIR.. this blonde model has a great kind of sixties bed head, but some of the dark haired models have these really severe geometric pointy buns, that look painted on. It's a stunning effect.

Everything he does has a perfect balance between masculine and feminine, hard and soft, luxurious and casual. (Actually Shini of Park & Cube put it best: 'powerful yet lyrical, borderline androgynous yet...acutely underlined femininity.'

And the details (like this little dotted ribbon trim, INSIDe, that's just revealed when it falls open).

Having had the privilege of seeing his show, I'm definitely a Kinder kind of girl.

red head

Speaking of redheads... I've been wanting to post on the Kinder Aggugini show since I saw him last Saturday at LFW. Everything about that show: the music, the set with his wonderful elegant props, the models, and especially, the clothes.. just absolutely perfect in every way.

Why haven't I posted sooner? Because I can't narrow the photos down! I love every look so much. I just love this guy so damn much, words can't express it. He is from 'Milan via Glasgow' and his work is so quirky-yet-worky, IMHO. Don't you just love that phrase? Unlike underwear-as-outerwear, I can't claim to have coined it: I read it in a Times piece (on another great talent, btw: Richard Nicholl), by an excellent journalist named Luke Leitch.

This is just ONE look. And it was hard to choose which shots. But that's the brilliance of blogs: I can always post more. After all, as Scarlett O'Hara so wisely said, tomorrow is another day.

Off to see The Lovely Bones with my man. Have a lovely Saturday, mon petit Chaufleurs!

this so not just another love song

I'm so excited: I've just found out I'm invited to see the Kinder Aggugini show!! I love his work (check out the rest of his S/S 2010 show). I'm not saying this to brag: I'm surprised at how much an invitation to a catwalk can make my heart flutter (I think I've turned into one of those women: next thing you know I'm going to see a pair of shoes and start saying 'I die': when that happens, please take me literally, and shoot me.)

You might remember me posting (twice, actually) on a model I saw before a show (a different shot). I didn't ask her name but she was so generous spirited & I'm pretty sure that's her on the top left. I bet someone out there knows who she is.

Actually, there's someone who goes by the name Anonymous, who I've come to see as the God (or Goddess, more likely) of my understanding. He, or She, from time to time, leaves me the Answer in my comments. It's spooky. But nice.

a hard day's night

Odelia, on Day Two.

We were both leaving Somerset House at the same time, and it was hotter than it's been all summer, that day. I felt like I was melting, and she clearly did, too. She was eating a bit of chocolate croissant and was happy to pose for me, but said in the faintest voice 'Please don't shoot me eating.' She was so sweet, like a young fawn, or a baby bird that needs every morsel and crumb to keep from falling out of the sky.

I know what it's like to work hard, and be professional, and to be a bit of a perfectionist in my work, but when she looked at my shots and showed me how tired her eyes looked, it hit me that it must be a very strange thing, indeed, when your job is how you look. It wasn't her fault her eyes look tired: she was exhausted, poor thing! And to me she looks absolutely beautiful.

Odelia is with IMG management, and I believe she was coming from the Kinder Aggugini show. And now, inspired by Odelia and everyone down to the guys constantly sweeping up to keep the area so spotless, and the staff at the Lavazza truck working tirelessly at 12 hour shifts and remembering EXACTLY how I like my double shot lattes, I'm getting back on the Picadilly Line and shooting one more day. Although, between us girls, what I'd rather be doing right now, frankly, is curling up with the cat for a little nap. So I leave you with a wonderful song by the fab four.
