so tired

Last night, while some people were no doubt out at parties till the wee hours, I was sitting in the dark with my laptop, going through all these images, like memories. There are so many, and tomorrow is another day, and the day after that. I've got time to show you what I've seen. Tonight, however, I'm going to get me some sleep.

But before I do, one more shot: Justine Bruman, who I met on Day Four of London Fashion Week, and judging by the time of day, I'm guessing she'd just finished the Todd Lynn show. I've found a shot from the show that I'm guessing is her, but I could be wrong. She was so ethereal. Altho she was looking at me, she wasn't seeing me. That's how tired she was.

If there's anyone out there who dreams of the glamour of a model's life, I've seen that no one works harder than these models. The shows are over so quickly, yet so much energy is expended, so much expectation put onto such a brief moment in time.

So to Justine, and the countless people who have worked harder than me, and slept less: this Bud's for you.

a hard day's night

Odelia, on Day Two.

We were both leaving Somerset House at the same time, and it was hotter than it's been all summer, that day. I felt like I was melting, and she clearly did, too. She was eating a bit of chocolate croissant and was happy to pose for me, but said in the faintest voice 'Please don't shoot me eating.' She was so sweet, like a young fawn, or a baby bird that needs every morsel and crumb to keep from falling out of the sky.

I know what it's like to work hard, and be professional, and to be a bit of a perfectionist in my work, but when she looked at my shots and showed me how tired her eyes looked, it hit me that it must be a very strange thing, indeed, when your job is how you look. It wasn't her fault her eyes look tired: she was exhausted, poor thing! And to me she looks absolutely beautiful.

Odelia is with IMG management, and I believe she was coming from the Kinder Aggugini show. And now, inspired by Odelia and everyone down to the guys constantly sweeping up to keep the area so spotless, and the staff at the Lavazza truck working tirelessly at 12 hour shifts and remembering EXACTLY how I like my double shot lattes, I'm getting back on the Picadilly Line and shooting one more day. Although, between us girls, what I'd rather be doing right now, frankly, is curling up with the cat for a little nap. So I leave you with a wonderful song by the fab four.

LFW Day Two: chanel with a twist, for osman

Her name is Drielli, she was modelling in the Osman show on Day Two (Saturday) and she was very shy and very sweet. I love this mix of Chanel cream leather jacket, flirty black skirt, my favourite black gold stud boots (which might possibly be Topshop) and a simple grey tee. She's got the balance spot on. I liked every single shot I got of her, and it's so hard to decide, so I'm posting three.

This is impossible: I've got hundreds, probably over a thousand shots now, and can't go thru them all as I've got to run out the door to meet some friends then back to Somerset House! I'm time releasing some throughout the day, but still, at this rate, it will be Christmas and I still won't have got through Day Two.

You can't imagine what it's like for me: for six months I've done the whole 'hi, can I shoot you for my blog' thing, and here I am, in an enclosed space with people who LOVE getting photographed by strangers! Not the models: for them it's exhausting, they're either rushing TO a show or exhausted from one (plus, it's been really hot & everyone's been over dressed in leather & fur: this looks Chanel) but everyone else - the civilians - they're thrilled to be shot! So I'm like.. I dunno, a fox in a hen house. A cat who got the cream. You pick the cliche, that's me!

how absolutely shocking! (lost in translation)

I don't have a clue what shocking news this model received on Day One @ London Fashion Week, but whatever it was, it sure got her up & running. Would love to hear your guesses. Be creative : )

Don't you love her hound's tooth cardigan and black thigh high suede boots? And she's got a little polka dot frock hiding underneath. (Don't you just love how the Brits call it 'dog's tooth' - everything gets lost in translation over the pond).

Oh and by the way re: the back to school special quiz, I haven't forgot you still need the answer. I'll be posting on it soon, I promise!

model behaviour (when your own initials are enough)

It was a quiet rainy Tuesday and I was taking a self portrait in the Bottega Veneta window on Old Bond Street when I saw through the lens a silhouette that looked stunning. I turned & ran after Hannah Horn, who, as it happens, is a young model starting out. She was so kind to pose, and I said I'd track her down, but I haven't. So Hannah, if you see this, please do get in touch & I'll send you the shots. 'd love to know where you got that great bubble dress. I like the simple touches like the bow and white collar. It's sophisticated schoolgirl chic, especially with the high heeled brogues. It's weird, I've been running into models everywhere lately.
