endangered species

By the end of last winter, I honestly thought that was the last we'd seen of the leopard print. I had worn my coat everywhere, with everything, and I embraced spring and summer and just assumed.. what can I say, I was wrong. I wore mine today with black riding pants and a dotted top and it's just such an easy look.

I've been stockpiling a series that has become so overwhelming in its complexity that I just gave up and stopped posting it. But now I'm going to try to chip away at it: one leopard print at a time.

First up: Saatchi gallery, last week.

I won't even ask if you're wearing leopard. Of course you are. What's your poison, darlings? Coat? Shoes? Scarf? More than one at the same time?

a neckerchief. And I'm looking for gloves, but haven't found the right ones yet.

What a great photo - the flawless, fresh face with the leopard print. I love seeing it dressed down. Leopard is one of my winter failsafes, my favourite is my 1950s leopard coat, it's falling apart so much I can hardly bear to wear it and I'll cry when it's gone.

Oh, here is is actually, should you want to see for yourself!

Great post, Jill. With this and the Pringle post, it's fair to see we're on the same wavelength this season! xx

A roll-neck top, which looks better than it sounds! Your coat looks fab :).

I want a leopard coat like that!! I used to have some amazing leopard ballet pumps that I literally wore to death. No longer have anything really. Except a vintage scarf actually. But a coat is on my "must have" list.

I want some leopard printed leggings or trousers, but I can't find the perfect pair anywhere! I also want the leopard printed converse. I really need them! xxx

I want that coat - I remember last winter I was so tempted to buy it but I stupidly thought leopard print wouldn't last! How wrong I was! x

I personally don't understand it... I think it is ugly... It looks fake and most of the time cheap. I guess that makes me an outsider, eh?

I still don't have a coat. But I have kitten heels, a baker boy cap, and an amazing satin caftan. I have always worn leopard print, so it really doesn't matter to me whether it is in fashion or not.

Oh I love all your responses.. even Anonymous, BLESS YOU whoever you are. I love the way you haven't given any clue to your identity in case you get virtually torn apart from the crowd. But that's your right! Presumably everyone who comes here - apart from the situations where you have to wear uniforms, whether it's for school, work, or you live in a Muslim country - has the right to wear what they want.

And that includes not wearing leopard if you don't want to.

Shopgirl and those who want a good leopard (faux of course) coat at a good price, I'm going to check with Motel to see if they're still got theirs. That's where I got mine and I really didn't think I'd be wearing it this year - I truly thought it was a trend that would play out - but I'm loving it more and more.

Definitely continuing on this series.. you wouldn't believe the collection of photos I've got. Thanks all! xo

What a lovely picture! I wrecked my brain about the leopardy print for years... Yes, no, yes, no, yes, no. Then... blouse, shoes, coat, bag? I paralyzed myself. Last week I bought my first leopard item and I've got a hunch it's not going to be the last one. Looking forward to more addictive inspirations!

I agree with you, I thought the trend would be gone by now... But maybe it's one of those things that will always be trendy? I finally broke down and bought a leopard print dress that I wear over pants as a tunic.

i'm on the fence as to whether to get a faux leopard coat..i'll know if/when the right one comes along.
all my leopard print is warm-weather stuff: silk chiffon scarf, Manolo Blahnik sandals, Louboutin pumps, short silk dress...
