the two anastasias

Anastasia, left, from Russia, and her friend, Anastasia, right, also from Russia, dotted near LIberty, off Oxford Street in Soho. I love their attitude: they look quite serious but found it hilarious that they're both (truly) named Anastasia.
Actually, since I'm posting two shots, that's technically FOUR Anastasias, all from Russia. What are the odds?

They're adorable.

When I lived in NYC I taught ESL at an organization populated mainly by immigrants from the former Soviet Union. I once taught a vocational English class to 12 women, 4 of whom were named Marina. And two more were Mariya. No, that wasn't confusing at all...

Well when I lived in NYC, I rented artist' studio space with five male friends, all of whom were named Bill (apart from Russell, and Batton Lash - I don't know his real name, but he still goes by it and is a cartoonist). Everyone went by their surnames (McGuire, Skiff, etc) apart from BK, who went by his initials. I was simply Cookie Carin, and no, it wasn't confusing, as everyone knew who they were.

I just remembered: the place was a loft on 25th St & 6th Avenue and Patrick Demarchelier had his studio above us. We'd often hear the crash of flying models landing on the wood floor.
